Political ABC of the United States, Egypt and Bahrain
No strong opposition forces, the yard-it-into-sea strategy toward Israel follow. The demonstrations
a brief observation about an interrogation by the Egyptian intelligence of 3-5. February reported a protester: "Under interrogation, they had become clear that the military intelligence saw Mubarak's resignation as inevitable." (From 15.2.11 FAZ.net )
In Bahrain, a mini-state with 800 000 inhabitants, there is the thing for the United States differently dar. Bahrain has a Shiite population and a Sunni ruling family. It is the most important U.S. military bases in the Middle East. 30 000 marines are there stationed. This will aim to keep the way to the oil-free. This is true, the bill that has opened for Bush at the Gulf war, even under Obama it comes to U.S. strategic interests. You do not have this base fall into the hands of Shiite Iran.
This shows a contradiction in U.S. policy: unilateral world domination and self-determination of peoples may have passed in the Cold War for the West Block to each other. In the upsurge of democracy in the Middle East does not match the link.
The U.S. must change its energy policy, not only in world interest in the face of climate change, but also from their narrow national interests out.
"If groups like ours in other countries take to the streets and they are persistent as we could bring an end to all regimes," Walid Rashid says of the movement of the 6th April. (As of 15.2.11 FAZ.net )
given Gene Sharp : "Not violence, but the peaceful struggle for civil rights, economic boycotts and similar measures would bring the protesters to the goal, he says," If you are using. violent struggle, then you have "chosen the best weapon your opponent is Gene Sharp, soberly," you may then indeed be a hero -.. but just a dead hero "( Tagesanzeiger of 17.2.11 )
